Hammer attack puts man in hospital

Robbery attempt: Hammer-struck man was taken to hospital, while attackers made off empty-handed.

A 26-year-old man has been hit on the head from behind with a hammer on Monday evening, at about 10pm. Police believe that the two attackers in the Whitehall Terrace incident demanded money from the victim, but then ran off empty handed.

The wounded man was taken to the Lincoln County Hospital last night for treatment to his head injury. At this point, Lincolnshire Police have no description of the attacker, or of the other man accompanying him.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Whitehall Terrace prior to 10pm on Monday evening, and saw the attack or saw anyone acting suspiciously before it, to contact them in confidence on 0300 111 0300.
