New consultant joins Lincoln hospital

Fresh on the job: New Lincoln County Hospital consultant Srin Amirchetty has a refreshing keenness for his profession.

Lincoln County Hospital on Tuesday announced the appointment of a new consultant, Srin Amirchetty (pictured above), specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology, for the benefit women and children in the region.

Obstetrics is a surgical speciality dealing with women and their babies during pregnancy, and gynaecology is the medical practice dealing with the female reproductive system.

Amirchetty trained at the Imperial College in London, and has already spent a significant period of time training as a junior doctor at Lincoln County Hospital. He still has a special interest in postgraduate education and audit, and intends to implement new teaching methods and training skills.

“It has become vitally important to ensure that junior doctors receive adequate practical teaching within working hours to gain skills and confidence to practice independently in craft specialities such as obstetrics and gynaecology,” said Amirchetty. He says he intends to use existing facilities and infrastructure based at Lincoln, as well as implementing new methods of teaching and training skills.

Amirchetty is also working towards implementing a robust audit programme within the department to ensure that high standards of clinical care are being carried out.

He appears to have a refreshing keenness for his profession: “I am pleased and very excited to be working in Lincoln and looking forward to furthering medical skills training in the near future and ultimately patient care.”
