Hartsholme Park’s family fun day returns

Family fun: Hartsholme Park will be holding its annual family fun day, with activities from chainsaw sculpting to model boats.

Hartsholme Country Park will be holding its annual family fun day once again this summer, and they promise it will be a great day out regardless of weather. The fun day will be on August 15, starting at 11am, and all activities are free.

Entrants can relax or try chainsaw sculpting in the award-winning park, play on the bouncy castle, climb up the climbing wall, or make birdfeeders, kites and model boats. The Weirfield Wildlife Hospital will also be bringing along a few farmyard animals to meet and teach the public about each animal.

“Sunday will be a real treat for all, everyone can enjoy this beautiful park while children take part in safe and fun activities,” said Brian Harding, Spokesperson for Hartsholme Country Park Advisory Group.

“It’s a real community event so we really hope everyone can come along and make the most of it. Whatever your age or interests, we’re sure you’ll have a great time.”

Portfolio Holder for Health and Recreation Alister Williams said: “I’d really like to encourage as many people as possible to get out to Hartsholme Country Park and enjoy the activities with the Park Rangers.

“They are always a lot of fun, and the park itself is a beautiful place to spend the day with your family. We are very proud that it has won a Green Flag again – it’s testimony to the hard work of all of the team involved.”

After the family fun day, there are also a few wildlife-orientated activity days, including a treasure hunt trail (August 24) and pond dipping to see what creatures lie beneath the lake’s surface (August 31). Both events start at 1pm, and cost £3 per child, booking is essential so contact the park rangers here.
