Christmassy characters grace Lincoln streets

Christmas Market: Ebenezer Scrooge will be mingling with the crowds, bought to Lincoln by a theatre company.

This year’s Christmas Market will have another classic festive character roaming the streets doing everything but spreading the cheer to visitors.

Ebenezer Scrooge will be mingling with the crowds, bought to uphill Lincoln by The Chapterhouse Theatre Company.

They will be performing A Christmas Carol outside the Castle Hill Club and on the steps of the Sub Dean in Cathedral Close, three times a day from December 3 to 5.

As well as A Christmas Carol, visitors will be able to see Victorian street urchins and carol singers wandering around, during their performance of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Organiser and Events Team Leader Amanda Batham said: “Street performances are hugely popular at the event, and while we’re improving the quality of the stalls, it’s important that the entertainment is top notch too.

“The period costumes and enthralling performances are sure to add to the special festive atmosphere at the Lincoln Christmas Market.”

Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s Producer Richard Main said: “It’s a real pleasure to be bringing some wonderfully traditional festive performances to the Lincoln Christmas Market this year.

“These very Victorian entertainments are sure to bring a smile to young and old alike at this most Christmassy time of year.”
