Police seeking High Street sex attacker

Police appeal: Police say they need to get the man pictured into custody as soon as possible.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted a 22-year-old woman earlier this month.

Police say they have not released this information earlier due to operational reasons linked to a line of enquiry.

At around 4.30am on October 9 the victim parted with her friends after enjoying a night out in the Scy club on Mint Street.

She walked down by the Brayford and onto High Street, and sometime before 5am she was approached by the offender at Argos.

He walked with her, talking to her as they went away from the city centre on the right-hand side of the road.

When they were parallel with KFC on the other side of the road, the man (pictured) pushed her into an alleyway.

He touched her in an inappropriate manner and stole her mobile phone and £20. The young woman was not injured.

Police are appealing for information regarding this incident, as they want to “get this offender into custody as soon as possible.”

DC Phil Richardson said: “Although this was a relatively minor assault, it is still extremely distressing for the victim.

“If you recognise the man in this image then call us immediately.

“The image is in St Marks, before he entered High Street, so we know he came from that direction.

“It was 5am so if you were out at that time you would remember. Please help us get this offender off the streets.”
