Healthy Hub holds alternative Christmas market

Alternative: Stallholders with extra goods to sell because of the Christmas market cancellation have an option.

— Later update: 30 stallholders already registered for the alternative market

Grafton House has withdrawn from participating in the alternative Christmas market due to Insurance issues.

To make up for the space lost from this venue not participating, The Healthy Hub will now be using car park space accessed from Mint Lane.

The car park is expected to accomodate sheltered stalls, including the medival market.

An alternative Christmas market will take place this weekend, following the cancellation of the traditional uphill market.

The annual Lincoln Christmas Market was due to commence December 2 but was cancelled On Wednesday due to health and safety fears following the snowfall.

However, despite the cancellation, between 50 and 60 of the expected 250 stallholders had already arrived in the city, with plenty of stock ready to sell.

In response to the needs of some of those stranded stallholders, along with the cries of many disappointed locals, an alternative Christmas Market has been established.

Taking place at Beaumont Fee’s The Healthy Hub and Grafton House on Newland, the alternative market plans to be open from Friday until Sunday.

The alternative market would host around 50 stalls across two sites, all offering a range of local and continental goods.

Rebecca Dray, the event organiser and CEO of The Healthy Hub, said:  “We’re a local business that’s here to support local businesses.”

“These local businesses rely on the Christmas Market to keep them afloat, and with many of these businesses already here we wanted to support them. We have indoor venues ready to support these business”.

News and updates about the alternative Christmas market can be found on The Healthy Hub’s Twitter.
