Special Christmas fun for disabled children

Activity day: Disabled children and their families can take part in a special sport activity day this Christmas.

Disabled children and their families can take part in a special sport activity day this Christmas.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Short Breaks and Lincolnshire Sports Partnership have put together a Christmas-themed activity day for December 20.

The aim of the day is to engage disabled children and their families through sports such as wheelchair sports, swimming and water polo, archery and shooting.

Children will also be able to meet Santa at the activity day.

Equality and Diversity Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership Ian Brown is organising the event.

He said: “The Family Disability Activity Days have been organised due to the demand for inclusive sports activities in school holidays.

“We are working with Short Breaks at Lincolnshire County Council to organise 24 activity days over seven months which we hope will encourage children with a disability to take part in sport and physical activity in a comfortable and friendly environment.

“The activity day at Christmas is very festive and children will have the chance to meet Santa and receive a gift.”

The event takes place at Yarborough Leisure Centre from 10am, and costs £10.00 per family. Places can be booked by calling 01522 585580 or by email.
