Construction firm prepares further lay-offs

Job cuts: A major construction firm in Lincoln is preparing to cut 50 jobs, the company confirmed.

A Lincoln-based construction firm is preparing to cut around 50 jobs this year, after it laid off 24 workers last December.

Simons Group, located on Doddington Road, has plans to make more of its staff redundant, the company confirmed.

Among the company’s customers, big names include Tesco, Vodafone, Marks & Spencer, ASDA, B&Q and Debenhams.

Now in consultation with staff, the firm is looking to make savings in the administrative departments.

The 24 workers who lost their jobs in December worked in operational roles, the company said.

Simons Group spokesperson Alexandra Blakelock said the next round of lay-offs will affect members of support teams:

“The process will determine the extent of reductions to our workforce in order to make sure that our financial position remains strong in light of some project delays and challenging market conditions.”
