Wahoo is city’s latest nightlife addition

Wahoo! Lincoln welcomes a new venue to the club scene, as the former Chicago Rock Cafe reopens under new owners.

Lincoln welcomes a new venue to the club scene this weekend, as the building that was formerly Chicago Rock Cafe, reopens as Wahoo on Saturday night.

The structure on Silver Street stood unoccupied for over a year, going under new management after Chicago Rock sites across the country have been taken over by Cavendish Bars.

Wahoo’s arrival has already been well-received, attracting a strong line-up of established local club nights such as Fat Poppadaddys, Yo-Yo, Rubix and Faux.

The establishment is attempting to encapsulate locals, sports fans and also students with its weekly events calendar.

Monday to Thursday opening times are from 7pm until 2:30am, focussing on sports until 10pm, when the venue takes its form as a night club targeting students.

On Saturdays and Sundays, it opens at midday operating as a sports bar and grill until 8pm when it becomes a night club, closing at 3:30am.

Despite being open during sociable hours and serving the food there is a strict over 18s rule at all times.

There is no specific dress code in place although Wahoo claims to employ a policy of “no effort, no entry”.
