New nurse for learning disability patients

New nurse: A nurse at Lincoln County Hospital will help adults with learning disabilities get the care they need.

A nurse joined Lincoln County Hospital to help adult patients with learning disabilities when they are admitted.

Karen Seale (pictured left) recently started working as a Learning Disability Acute Liaison Nurse for Lincolnshire Community Health Services.

This is alongside the appointment of nurse Kerry Poberezniuk, who will be working with the disabled patients at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Grantham and District Hospital.

The role means that Seale will make sure patients with learning disabilities receive the appropriate care during their stay in hospital, working with family, staff and carers.

She said: “We are committed to helping patients with learning disabilities receive the best possible hospital treatment.

“Our role facilitates better understanding between the patient and our NHS colleagues treating them, making sure their needs are met.”

Both Seale and Poberezniuk join the four Primary Care Health Liaison Nurses currently working in the county.
