Birchwood Centre flats snapped up

Taken: All 18 flats at the recently-transformed £7 million Birchwood Centre on Jasmin Road have been taken up.

All 18 flats at the recently-transformed £7 million Birchwood Centre on Jasmin Road have been taken up and the first tenants have moved in already.

The flats were built over the past two years as part of a revamp of the centre, which converted 10 retail units in one and two-bedroom flats with two larger commercial units at the ground floor.

Lincolnshire Co-operative are the centre’s owners and landlords, while Hodgson Elkington are the chartered surveyors handling the residential lettings.

The flats are decorated in a contemporary style with fitted kitchens and bathroom. Some of the flats have French balconies to the sitting room and are mainly open plan.

All flats are either carpeted or have wood laminate floor coverings. Rent for one bedroom is £425 per month, or £475 for two bedrooms.

“It has taken 2 years to transform the centre from what was a tired development to the lively modern vibrant development seen today,” said Shelley Bakewell, Senior property manager at Hodgson Elkington.

Bakewell handed over the keys to the first new tenant, Wayne Russell: “I love this flat, it is just what I wanted. My friends and family love coming round and it’s so convenient for work.”

New tenant Wayne Russell having a brew in his new flat with Brent Hall of Hodgson Elkington.

“The fact that in such a short space of time we have received applications for all 18 flats underlines the urgent need for private residential accommodation in Lincoln and the county,” added Jill Elkington, Hodgson Elkington’s Residential Letting Department’s manager.
