Mothers raise funds for neonatal ward

Fundraiser: A group of mothers have raised money for Lincoln County Hospital.

A charity pamper event set up by a group of mothers has raised over £3,000 for local and national children’s organisations.

Alison Hodson grouped together some friends and raised money for Lincoln County Hospital’s Nocton neonatal unit, Digby Village Preschool and Heartlink, Glenfield.

Hodson’s son was cared for on the Nocton Ward two years ago after having heart problems, and the other mothers have children at the preschool.

At the event held in Digby Village Hall, Hodson got Lincolnshire businesses to offer beauty treatments and products to the 200 people attending.

Hodson will visit the ward at the hospital this Friday (March 25) to hand over £500 from the event to staff there.

She said: “The pamper evening was a huge success and we are already planning another one to take place this summer to raise funds for the preschool and for Nocton Ward.

“We are delighted to be able to give to these very worthy causes and will continue to support them.”

Junior Sister on the ward Victoria Kingswood-Barrass said: “We are very grateful for this donation.

“It will enable us to enhance the experience parents have during their baby’s stay on the unit, by providing some home comforts that we otherwise may not be able to.

“For example, we are going to purchase a new television with DVD player for the parents’ lounge from the money donated.”
