No iPad 2 for Lincoln on launch day

Gadget lust: No Lincoln stores are stocking the sought-after iPad 2 tablet from Apple, leaving fans disappointed.

Hundreds queued outside stores in the US when the iPad 2 was launched.

Gadget shoppers in Lincoln are disappointed as the iPad 2 will not be available in the city when it goes on sale from 5pm on Friday across the UK.

The Tritton Road branches of PC World and Currys were hoping to be able to offer the highly anticipated new Apple product but were not selected as chosen stockists.

3 Mobile stores across the country are also selling the device, but the store in Lincoln again has none on sale as of yet.

Instead, Lincolnites hoping to purchase the new device will be forced to travel to either Nottingham, Peterborough, Derby or Birmingham (Later update: there are Apple stores in Leicester and Sheffield’s Meadowhall too).

Clive Weaver (37), who works at a local Game store, ventured out on his lunch break to inquire about the iPad 2 but will now be looking elsewhere.

Weaver said: “I was looking for the 32 GB WiFi version, I have an iPhone but I will use the iPad to do everything from presentations at work to watching programmes at home.”

Staff at the Lincoln stores were unable to confirm when they were likely to be able to stock the iPad 2 as demand across the globe for lusted gadget increases.
