Lincoln College’s basketball team has won the Lincolnshire Inter-College Basketball League title for 2010/11.

The team took the title from last year’s winners Grantham College. Also competing for the title were Boston College and New College Stamford.

Throughout the season, Lincoln College managed to only lose one game overall.

Lincoln College’s team is managed by Lucy Willets, Lincolnshire Basketball Development Officer and member of Lincolnshire Sports Partnership.

Team Captain Callum Smith said: “We are delighted to have won the league, after what has been a difficult season with us losing our training facilities in November.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all the guys for all their hard work and for putting up with all of my shouting throughout the year.

“It has been an honour to both play and help coach such a great set of lads.

“I would also like to give a final thanks to Lucy and the other teams for setting up the league and for partaking.”

Lucy Willets said: “Congratulations to all the colleges for a great basketball season.

“Lincoln College has done especially well losing only one game all season, but all the teams have been very professional and have showed great enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the season.”
