Local charity club bike for breast cancer

Cycling for cancer: A local club will cycle 50 miles for Lincoln’s Breast Cancer unit.

More than 50 people in Lincoln are taking part in a 50-mile bicycle ride to raise money for Lincoln County Hospital’s breast cancer unit.

The event is being organised by charitable organisation Lincoln Lions Club, which raises money for local causes all year round.

Member Ann Stafford has been treated by the service for breast cancer and wanted to give something back.

She said: “This is an exciting opportunity for people to get fit, cycle around Lincoln and raise money for a truly deserving cause.

“It’s also my opportunity to show everyone that, even after two major operations, there’s nothing I can’t do.”

The cycle event takes place on May 29 and starts in Saxilby, passing through Auburn, Branston, Nettleham and Scampton.

Riders will be dressed in pink T-shirts. Anyone aged over 17 can join in. Minimum sponsorship is £50 per cyclist.
