New menswear shop opens on High Street

Looking smart: A new menswear outlet opened on the High Street selling smart clothing for men aged 25 – 55.

New menswear store Coney’s opened on Friday, May 27, after a £130,000 investment. The outlet, which is part of a sole-owned chain, is located where The Local off licence used to be, on the upper High Street.

The 2,500 sq ft store has a total of nine employees, all of which have moved from other existing stores owned by the firm. Coney’s is focused on providing smart clothing for men aged 25 – 55.

Gere Menswear, located at The Shopping Mall Center, has now moved permanently to their space opposite Coney’s and will complement the existing clothing range available there.

The retailer is part of a five-store chain, along with the two in Lincoln, with three others located in Redditch, Leamington Spa and Boston.

Store manager Robert Maguire said: “The opening has seen a really great turnout and has provided the store with a fantastic start. This is a much larger store and a great opportunity for the company to expand further.

“We needed a bigger store because of the demand we had in the old one. At the weekend people were basically on top of each other because it was too small.”

“This store will give men the chance to purchase suits and also smart casual wear.”

The official opening of the retail outlet, which takes place June 2, gives a chance for customers to enjoy champagne, canapés and their specially mixed ‘Coney’s with a twist of Gere’ cocktails.
