Spate of burglaries triggers police warning

Triple burglary: Police are urging Lincoln residents to make sure they lock doors and windows at night after a number of break-ins.

Lincolnshire Police are warning people in Lincoln to make sure they lock doors and windows at night after a spate of break-ins in the city.

Three separate incidents were reported this weekend, where burglars broke into houses in Lincoln though unlocked doors to steal valuables.

An offender got into a house in Newark Road, Lincoln, between 2.30pm and 2.55pm on June 5 and stole two mobile phones.

An offender also got into a house through an unlocked patio door in Park Avenue, Lincoln, between June 3 and 2pm on June 5 and stole a laptop and cash.

In the third incident, an offender broke into a house in Winnowsty Lane, Lincoln, overnight on June 4-5 and stole a laptop and a photo frame.

Police are urging people to make sure their doors and first-floor windows are locked when they go to bed, or when they are away from their properties.

Officers say opportunistic criminals do scour residential areas on the lookout for easy targets and making sure your house is secure drastically reduces your chances of becoming a victim.

Anyone with any information on the three burglaries can call Lincolnshire Police on 0300 111 0300.
