Setting up: Inspired by his father, a Lincoln teenager has set up his own auto repair garage off Monks Road.

Son and father Ruben and Graham Stevenson

A 19-year-old Lincoln man has set up his own motor vehicle service and mechanical repair garage after a lifelong learning experience gained working alongside his dad.

Based at Unit 13, Monks Way, off Monks Road, R & G Autos has been set up by Ruben Stevenson.

He had a helping hand from the Princes Trust and Small Loans for Business in the form of a £3,000 loan and £1,500 grant.

Now Stevenson plans to build the business on the enthusiasm and knowledge base he learned at his father’s knee, who is now helping him to achieve his ambition.

He said: “I have worked alongside my dad since I was little and over the years have learned the skills of the trade from him.

“That has enabled me to acquire valuable knowledge from him he in turn gained from over forty years experience in the motor repair business.”

As the business grows, he aims to employ and pay his dad, Graham Stevenson, a wage.

“I hope that I can in some way repay my dad, who has been such an inspiration and help to me in my chosen trade,” Stevenson said.
