City park voted favourite family destination

Winning park: A website for mothers has voted two parks in the Lincoln area the top spots to go for free family fun.

Hartsholme Country Park has been voted a favourite place for mothers to take their children on a national website poll.

The poll on Netmums.com, which had over a million voters, named Hartsholme Park the second favourite free place for mums to go in the area.

Whisby Nature Park, near Lincoln, was voted first.

Jane Massey, Local Editor at Netmums.com, said: “We asked our members to nominate their favourite free places to go in their area.

“We then put our top Netmums member choices to the vote via a poll on our website and let our one million members cast their votes for their favourite free places to go.

“We feel that this vote is extra special as it is a ‘mum’s choice’ award, from local people for the local area and acknowledges what a great place Hartsholme Country Park is for families to visit.”

Senior Conservation Ranger at the City of Lincoln Council Ruth Simons said: “We’re really pleased to have been voted one of the top places in the local area for families.

“We work hard to make the park attractive and accessible for children – the footpaths, lakes and woodland are always popular and our new play area is always busy.

“Our events are always well attended, and we try to put on a wide range of activities for families and children, so to have the support of Netmums is really encouraging.”

Hartsolme Park recently won a Green Flag Award for the fourth year running.
