Lincoln College lead volleyball tournament

Beach fun: Businesses in Lincoln taking part in a summer sport are nearing the end of the tournament.

Lincoln College is in the lead of the first Corporate Beach Volleyball Tournament for Lincoln. The volleyball event was held every Thursday evening on the beach in the City Square.

The six participating teams were Lincoln College, The Waterside Shopping Centre, Marks and Spencer, Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, Lincoln BIG and Boots.

Lincoln College (pictured left), comprising of sports lecturers Stu Reddington, Ross Frisby and Brendan Rooney, is currently in the lead with 216 points.

The Waterside Shopping Centre (Paul Claxton, Anna Kubickova and John Dyke) are second with 211 points.

Marks and Spencer bring up third place with 198 points.

Host Navaz Sutton from Lincolnshire Sports Partnership said: “The tournament was all about having fun, learning a new sport and meeting other people from Lincoln.

“We were really pleased with the turn out and hope everyone enjoyed playing throughout the month.

“The competition was really close in the end with only five points difference between first and second place, but a huge congratulations goes to Lincoln College who were victorious.”

The teams will now play a final tournament at an indoor venue (TBC) next Thursday to be crowned champions.
