Person dies struck by freight train in Lincoln

One dead: Police are investigating the unexplained death of a person struck by a freight train in Lincoln.

A person has been struck by a freight train near Boultham level crossing on Skellingthorpe Road, Boultham, Lincoln.

British Transport Police were informed of the incident at 4.52am on Wednesday, August 3.

The incident took place between Boultham crossing and Skewbridge, and the train was travelling from Peterborough to Doncaster.

BTP, local police, the fire and ambulance services are attending and the body of a man was found under the train. He was declared dead at the scene.

Trains in the area were stopped and work to recover the body and establish the man’s identity and the circumstances of his death is continuing.

This death is currently being treated as unexplained.
