Police arrest 6 Lincoln men over metal thefts

Theft arrests: Lincolnshire Police arrested six Lincoln men over metal thefts and recovered around one tonne of stolen lead.

Lincolnshire Police arrested six men as part of an ongoing operation to stamp out the growing problem of metal theft in the county.

Overt and covert work on Operation Brompton has been running for a couple of weeks now and six more men were arrested at around 7am on Wednesday, August 25.

Officers pulled over two vehicles on the A46 Damon’s Roundabout, just outside Lincoln, and arrested two 29-year-old men, a 34-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old man.

About one tonne of lead, which is believed to be stolen, was also recovered.

All of the suspects, who live in the Lincoln area, were questioned and released on bail pending further enquiries until October 17.
