Lincoln Comedy Festival kicks off Wednesday

Magic dragon: A comic magician has replaced an act that had to drop out of the city comedy festival.

Organisers are putting the final touches on the fourth Lincoln Comedy Festival, which takes place from Wednesday, October 5 to Tuesday, October 11.

The festival is held across three venues in the city: the Drill Hall, the LPAC and the Engine Shed. The 19 shows include Jack Whitehall, Dave Spikey, Arthur Smith, Shappi Khorsandi and Jon Richardson.

After one act due to perform pulled out of Lincoln Comedy Festival, the gap has been filled with a magical replacement.

Piff The Magic Dragon and his sidekick, Mr Piffles the levitating Chihuahua, will be replacing Loretta Maine on October 9 at 5pm.

Maine had to pull out of the event due to recording commitments with the BBC.

The funny magic act was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival and has also featured on ITV1’s Penn and Teller: Fool Us magic show.

Piff’s show centres around getting everyone to take him seriously as the Greatest Magic Dragon of All Time, after his wife ran off with Prince Charming.

Festival Director Shaun Almey said: “It is a shame Loretta had to cancel but she’s in great demand for TV and Radio work at the minute.

“We’re so pleased to have been able to get Piff and Mr Piffles as their show is fantastic.

“It adds another piece of variety to a great weekend of comedy styles at Lincoln Drill Hall.”
