Five midwives from Lincoln have won awards for their dedication and work with new mums from the National Childbirth Trust (NCT).

The midwives won the awards after being nominated by families using the Lincoln maternity ward between October 2010 and September 2011.

Between them, the group won commendations, sustained excellence, runner-up and overall winner.

The winning midwives are Community Midwives Linda Parker, Cheryl Shaw, Miriam Hunt and Lindsey Thacker, and Labour Ward Midwife Sarah Holdsworth.

Many comments by families described them as exceptional workers that went out of their way to help and support people.

Linda Parker said: “I am overwhelmed with the comments I have received. It’s lovely for us all to be recognised so we really appreciate the time people take to make their nominations.”

The awards, which were sponsored by the Old station Nursery, were presented to the winners on November 4 at Lincoln County Hospital antenatal ward.
