Princess Anne to inaugurate University of Lincoln Engineering Hub

Royal opening: The Engineering Hub at the University of Lincoln will be formally opened by Princess Anne early next year.

The University of Lincoln and Siemens Industrial Turbines Ltd will be greeting royalty early next year.

HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, will be formally opening the university’s newest building, the Lincoln Engineering Hub, on January 19, 2012.

She will be visiting the engineering school on the Brayford campus at 12.15pm, where she will the be able to tour the facilities before unveiling a special plaque.

The Engineering Hub is a joint project between the University of Lincoln and Siemens Industrial Turbines that cost £37 million to create and took just under a year to build.

Also known as the Lincoln School of Engineering, it is the first purpose-built school within the UK for over two decades.

Teaching students since September, the school attracts experts in the field, who are researching areas within combustion, low-carbon air travel, lasers for stem cell treatments, electric vehicles and artificial intelligence.
