Recycling centre open over Christmas period

Wrapper recycling: The council are advising people they can still recycle unwanted goods and waste over the festive period.

Residents in Lincoln will be able to recycle their waste effectively, as the Great Northern Terrace Household waste recycling centre will open over the festive period.

The recycling centre will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, as well as the week in-between.

Environmental Services Team Leader Ian Taylor said: “Why not spend some time this Christmas having a real good clear out at home?

“There’s so much that you can bring to your local household waste recycling centre for recycling, more than 25 different types of waste.

“Clothing that you haven’t worn for a while, books and CDs, as well as your wrapping paper and Christmas tree – once you’ve finished with them of course!

“You may have been lucky enough to have received small electrical items as gifts this year from Santa. If it’s case of out with the old, and in with the new, you might not realise you can bring all your old electric toothbrushes, hair straighteners, and even your laptop to be recycled here too.”

In the last financial year, Lincolnshire’s recycling centres collected 4,231 waste, electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

A TV advert will also be aired from Boxing Day to remind residents about recycling WEEE. More information on WEEE and recycling can be found on the website.
