First Look: The new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel

Unveiled: The new Lincoln DoubleTree by Hilton has finally been completed. The Lincolnite takes a look around.

The DoubleTree by Hilton by the Brayford is finally complete and ready for the public to use its facilities and restaurant.

The hotel on Brayford Wharf North, which took just over a year to complete, has created 70 jobs and offers 115 hotel rooms to potential guests.

Eight rooms contain balconies overlooking Brayford Pool or Lincoln Cathedral.

Every room provides guests with internet access, a LCD television, Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree beds and a work area.

Guests are also presented with a warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival, and get the chance to use the panoramic glass lift to their floor or the Electric Bar & Restaurant.

As well as the rooms and a restaurant, a ballroom for 300 guests and further flexible space is available for conferences, weddings, exhibitions and other events.

General Manager Philip Walker said” “We’re delighted with the interest we’ve received from local residents, businesses and visitors from outside Lincoln in the hotel.

“Even before we opened we were inundated with calls from people either wanting to book a room or an event in 2012.

“The hotel has only been open since December 30 but we’ve already welcomed a lot of people through the doors who either want to have a look round, make a booking or have a drink or something to eat in The Electric Bar and Restaurant and the feedback has been really positive.”
