Free health walks organised in Lincoln

Boots made for walking: Trained volunteer health walk leaders lead free short walks to get more people in the city active.

Free health walks organised in Lincoln and surrounding areas aim to get more people in the city involved in physical activity.

Walk groups in Lincoln meet weekly at Harstholme County Park, Whisby Nature Park, Branston, North Hykeham, Saxilby, Bracebridge Health, Skellingthorpe and central Lincoln.

Trained volunteer health walk leaders lead free short walks to include everybody, regardless of ability, in a friendly and sociable environment.

The majority of walks are between 45 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes. The free health walks are funded by NHS Lincolnshire.

Sarah Ferneyhough, Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Health walks are becoming increasingly popular with almost 3,000 people in Lincolnshire now regularly attending walks.

“They are one of the cheapest and easiest ways to improve your health, and are a great way to meet new people and have fun.”
