The Avenue traffic light refurb begins

Road works: Traffic lights on Newland and The Avenue in Lincoln are being refurbished over the next 12 weeks.

Work has begun to refurbish the traffic lights on Newland and The Avenue in Lincoln, set to last 12 weeks.

In the first phase, The Avenue is closed to southbound traffic throughout, with a full road closure after rush hour on Friday, February 10 to Sunday evening, February 19.

Traffic from Yarborough Road is diverted through West Parade and onto Beaumont Fee. Newland and Carholme Road remain open with some lane restrictions at times.

As previously reported, the existing traffic light equipment is being refurbished and new pedestrian crossings at the junction will be added.

The junction and its approaches will also be resurfaced and street lighting upgraded.

Tim Clark, principal engineer, said: “The new installation will last for the next 25 years. We’ll carry out the improvements as quickly as we can.”
