Lincoln’s annual summer festival aimed at children is back, promising to be bigger than previous years.
Organised by Lincoln BIG, beam! will be held for eight days starting June 30, and hopes more shoppers and children will stop to enjoy the activities on offer.
Last year, 30,000 people watched performances on the High Street by 4,000 under 12s, or took part in workshops hosted across the city.
Schoolchildren and teachers from various schools are already beginning to plan their performances and activities for beam! Festival.
Lincoln BIG events and promotions manager Michael Armstrong said: “Children from 30 schools will be taking part and we know that excitement is already building as teachers begin to work with them on ideas for their individual activities.
Armstrong is also hoping local businesses get involved in the festivities. He added: “There is still time for local businesses and organisations to support the festival, so do get in touch with us for a chat.”
Cultural solutions director David Lambert said: “The fantastic programme of music, singing and dancing being produced by the school children, is being complemented by many other attractions.
“The festival aims to build strong, mutually beneficial partnerships that assist in getting Lincolnshire’s businesses and organisations’ messages out to a very specific target group of people.
“Shoppers and city centre visitors will find themselves stopping in their tracks to marvel at amazing street theatre performers, who will be roaming the streets and surprising people with impromptu performances.”
