Lincolnshire Good Citizens Awards nominations open

Exceptional people: Lincolnshire County Council want residents to nominate special people in their community for an award.

Lincolnshire County Council is encouraging residents to nominate those who work hard within their community for the Good Citizens Awards 2012.

The annual awards are a way of recognising the people who work voluntarily within communities in Lincolnshire who may otherwise not be commended.

This could range from an individual or group that voluntarily cares for the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged to a charity fundraiser or help youths.

Councillor Robert Palmer, vice-chairman of Lincolnshire County Council, said: “It’s your chance to honour those extraordinary people whose voluntary contributions make noticeable differences to people throughout Lincolnshire.

“Of course, they don’t do it for reward. But the hugely positive impact they have on people’s lives should be recognised.

“I urge everyone to nominate their Good Citizen for 2012.”

There are three different categories for the awards: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16 or below), and Community Group of the Year.

Nominations can be made using the online form on the County Council’s website, or send details of the person you are nominating and why to Good Citizens Awards, Lincolnshire County Council, FREEPOST DC1082, Lincoln, LN1 1BR.

The closing date for nominations is April 20.
