Co-op to help fund community Jubilee parties

Celebration time: To mark the Diamond Jubilee, event organisers are being offered the chance to win party goods from the Co-op.

Lincolnshire Co-op are helping make the upcoming Jubilee a party to remember by offering community groups and charities a share of £10,000 of food, drink and prizes.

Successful groups will win a “party in a box” — Union Jack bunting, balloons, and posters for their event — as well as goods worth between £10 and £250.

Event organisers simply have to fill out the application form with the details of their party, plus why they would benefit from funding.

Membership and Community Manager Sam Turner said: “We want to help bring communities across the area together to mark the first Diamond Jubilee since 1897.

“Groups can apply for anything between £10 and £250. We want to support a range of different sized community events so this scheme can provide anything from a bottle of bubbly to use as a raffle prize to cakes for a street party.

“It really is up to the organisers to decide what would be suitable for their occasion.”

Deadline for entries is April 13, then local members groups of the Lincolnshire Co-operative Society will pick winners, who will be informed in May.

Those unable to fill in the form online can call the Membership & Community team on 01522 544632.
