Fire & Rescue create fire safety DVD for kids

Fire safety: Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue are hoping to raise fire awareness in children with a special DVD.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue are hoping to teach children across the UK about fire safety with their own film.

Freddy and Filbert’s Escape Plan 2: The Refill follows three talking fire extinguishers, Freddy, Filbert and Penelope, who learn how carelessness can lead to a fire.

Aimed at primary school children, it will teach how not only to avoid a fire, but also how to escape a house fire if they have to.

The film covers electrical safety, cooking safety, creating an escape plan, and what to do if a fire starts.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue will pass the DVD onto other brigades across the country to use in schools.

Andy Payne, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue youth engagement manager, said: “The first Freddy and Filbert DVD was really popular with schools and we’re hoping that the updated version will be even more successful.

“Schoolchildren across the country will grow up knowing Freddy, Filbert and Penelope’s advice and they’ll be much safer as a result.”

The prequel to Escape Plan 2 sold 3,000 copies across the UK, raising £40,000 for other educational resources.
