Man arrested over copper theft from house

Metal theft arrest: A 41-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing copper from a house in the city.

A 41-year-old local man was arrested on Friday, March 9, on suspicion of stealing copper from a house in the city.

Officers were called to Bawtry Close in Lincoln at around 9.15pm, after a report that a man had broken into an unoccupied house in the road to steal copper pipes.

Lincolnshire Police arrested a 41-year-old local man on suspicion of burglary a short time later. He was questioned and released on police bail pending further enquiries until April 23.

As part of ongoing efforts to tackle metal theft in Lincolnshire, police also arrested last month three Lincoln men with conspiracy to steal lead from over 20 churches in the county.

The men were arrested when officers used synchronised warrants at four addresses in Lincoln, after a six-month intelligence operation.
