Video: Lincoln’s Portas Pilot bid

Portas Pilot: Watch Lincoln’s video bid for cash to boost the city’s markets, as well as the submissions from two other Lincolnshire towns.

Lincoln BIG and the City of Lincoln Council have submitted their required video bid for the Portas Pilot, which could give a cash boost to the city’s markets.

As previously reported, city officials gave the green light to bid for £100,000 that would be used to revamp the various markets held throughout the year in Lincoln.

The pilot includes setting up a National Market Day to encourage entrepreneurs to establish low-cost business start-ups, as well as making the most of public spaces.

The City of Lincoln Council and Lincoln BIG also plan to set up a Town Team to look at the “long-term vision” of the city centre, and then create a marketing strategy.

From Lincolnshire, Market Rasen and Mablethorpe are also bidding for the Portas Pilot to help reinvigorate their town centres.

Lincoln, Mablethorpe and Market Rasen will be among hundreds of other UK towns bidding for the 12 places in the pilot, from a £1 million cash pot.
