Betfred places bets on Carlton Centre unit

New shop: Bookmakers expanding business further by opening new store in Lincoln’s Carlton Centre.

A national betting company will expand the number of stores it runs in the city by opening a unit in the east of Lincoln.

Independent bookmaker Betfred will move into a unit in the Carlton Centre, let by Banks Long & Co.

Surveyor Matthew Brooks said: “Betfred was attracted by this strong retail destination, which is owned by Lincolnshire Co-operative, and the company has taken a unit in Alexander Walk.

“The Carlton Centre is popular with other national retailers, including Lincolnshire Co-op, Argos, Boots, Pets at Home, McDonalds and Halfords, amongst many others.

“Betfred is now working to fit out its new premises and plans to open in time to catch this summer’s trade.”

Betfred has a number of shops in Lincoln, including units on the High Street and The Forum in North Hykeham. There are a number of units elsewhere in the county as well.

Argos also recently opened a new store in the uphill shopping centre, with a view to expand, and celebrated by offering £10 vouchers to the first 100 customers.
