Three charged over bike thefts in Lincoln

Bike theft charges: Three more people have been charged with stealing bikes in Lincoln.

Three more people have been charged with stealing bikes in Lincoln, as police continue their work to tackle the problem in the city.

Joseph Robert Craigen (22) of Yarborough Crescent has been charged with stealing a bike in the city on March 2 and stealing two other bikes on March 13.

Daniel Andrew Liberty (32) of Cumberland Avenue in Wellingore has also been charged with handling stolen goods in relation to a bike which is believed to be stolen on September 21 last year.

Craigen and Liberty will appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court on April 24.

A third person, a 17-year-old local youth, who cannot be named due to his age, has been charged with stealing a bike in Lincoln on March 13 and will appear in court on April 19.

So far, local officers have handed out more than 200 Immobilise tags to members of the public to fit to their cycles.

These enable officers to scan stolen bikes when they are recovered to see who they belong to. Six Immobilise scanners are now in use in and around Lincoln.

Lincoln PCSOs will also be raising awareness of bike thefts among those visiting the cinema this weekend.

Please urge residents to report all suspicious activity around bikes in the city to officer via the 101 non-emergency number.
