Two charged over Portland Street stab murder

Stab murder: Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a 44 year-old man in Lincoln.

Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a 44 year-old man in Lincoln, who has been named as Gary Alan Hayes of Walnut Place (pictured).

Mark James Titley (38), of Monks Road and Benjamin James Freeston (32), of Stamp End, will appear before Lincoln Magistrates on Monday morning.

They were arrested on Sunday.

The incident happened at around 5.55am on Saturday, April 14 on Portland Street. Ambulances attended a call and treated the man, but he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination has revealed that the man suffered a single stab wound to the chest.

In a statement, Mr Hayes’ family said: “We are all devastated by Gary’s death. He was a loving son and brother and his loss will be sorely felt by us all.”
