Lincoln Olympic Torch Relay at Yarborough

In pictures: The Olympic Torch Celebration at Yarborough was an exciting event, so here are all the highlights of the event.

Thousands of Lincoln residents flocked to the sports ground uphill to see the resting Cauldron be lit up by the final torchbearer of the day, and enjoy live acts.

As well as witnessing Jules Hanks (46) run the final 300 metres through the ground and onto the stage to light the cauldron, residents could dance, sing, eat and have their photo taken with a torch.

Coca Cola, Lloyds TSB, Samsung and Nature Valley all had stalls offering a variety of activities and goodie bags, while there was also an official London 2012 merchandise stall.

On stage, One World, Britian’s Got Talent finalists Twist and Pulse, Lloyds TSB dancers and main act Loick Essein kept crowds going while they waited for the Torch.

Mayor of Lincoln Karen Lee made a short speech and to sum up the event, the Red Arrows did a special fly past.

The Yarborough event was organised by the City of Lincoln Council, and tickets for the free event sold out within a week of going on sale.
