Police warning after spate of burglaries in Lincoln villages

Village burglaries: Police are warning residents in villages around Lincoln after a spate of burglaries.

Residents in villages around Lincoln are being warned after a spate of burglaries last weekend.

Lincolnshire Police is urging them to report any suspicious activity immediately to increase the chances of an arrest.

Over the weekend of Saturday, August 25, to Monday, August 27, six burglaries took place at houses in two villages near Lincoln, three in Heighington and three in Branston.

All the offences are believed to have taken place during the late afternoon or evening and in all cases the offender(s) broke in through doors and windows at the back of the properties.

The offenders then rifled through belongings and mainly stole laptops and cash.

DI Richard Myszczyszyn said: “We will have extra resources patrolling these villages to prevent further crimes, but we need residents to play their part and work with us.

“If you see any suspicious activity in your village in the evening over the weekend then please call us straight away.

“Good descriptions of people and vehicles, along with registration numbers are really useful to us. Please do not think you are wasting our time. If something looks suspicious to you then call us.

“It is also a good idea to make your house look occupied while you are out in the evening too, perhaps by leaving the odd light or a radio on.”

You can report suspicious activity to Lincolnshire Police via the non emergency 101 number.
