Residents invited to train with Paralympians

Training session: Residents can enjoy some special training as the Egyptian Paralympians shape up for the Games with the community.

Anyone into sport looking for a good training session with elite athletes have the opportunity to train with the Egyptian Paralympic Team.

As part of training before the London 2012 Paralympic Games, 40 athletes will be based at four venues around Lincolnshire for athletics, powerlifting, sitting volleyball and table tennis.

The community training will be held through next week, with sessions for adults, children, groups or families.

For Lincolnites, the sessions will take place on August 20 between 12pm and 1pm at the University of Lincoln for sitting volleyball and table tennis.

Councillor Doreen Stephenson, Lincolnshire Champion for the London 2012 Games and Leader of East Lindsey District Council, said:

“This is a great opportunity for local communities to get involved with the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

“We are very privileged to welcome the Egyptian Paralympic Team to our county, and I hope that these open training sessions are well attended with people inspired by the Games so far.”

Those interested in taking part are encouraged to visit reception of the venue on the day to sign in.
