YMCA celebrates achievements with staff awards

Great successes: The YMCA celebrated the team’s hard work over the last decade with a special award ceremony this week.

The Lincolnshire YMCA celebrated the charity’s achievements over the past few years with an awards ceremony for staff, volunteers and partners.

The event took place at The Showroom on Tritton Road, on September 24, as a showcase of the current YMCA work within Lincolnshire, and to reward staff and volunteers for their work.

Video reels were played for the charity’s housing, outreach, childcare and fitness centre schemes, while The Showroom explained how the charity and business work together closely.

Chief Executive Malcolm Barham said: “It’s really important to recognise the work of our staff and volunteers.

“I’d like to thank every single one of the team for all their hard work in driving our charity forward.”

He also paid a tribute to Chairman Bob Doe, who stepped down from the role this week. He will remain on the board while Ian Sackree, also the Vice Principal of Corporate Resources at Lincoln College, takes up the role.

He said: “An organisation like ours requires strong leadership, Bob has given the staff the freedom to use their skills and talents to develop the organisation. He’s always been there with advice and encouragement.”

Lincolnshire YMCA has grown from a core team of 30 to 90, and had extra support with the development of The Showroom, childcare centres in Lincoln and Gainsborough and the purchase of two four-bedroom houses to be used as “move on” accommodation for clients.
