Lincoln GP surgery will close after Christmas

Retiring: A busy GP surgery will be closing down in December due to retirement of the doctors and owners of the centre.

A GP surgery in the south of Lincoln will be closing its doors at the end of December, after 46 years of service.

Swallowbeck Surgery on Hykeham Road will no longer treat patients after December 31.

The business is family run, by doctors Mark and Alison Fallon, but they are retiring from General Practice after providing health care for forty six years between them.

The 5,000 patients who use the practice have been sent letters explaining how to apply to other GP practices nearby.

The nearest practices accepting patients are Crossroads Medical Practice, Newark Road Surgery and Richmond Medical Centre.

Di Pegg, Head of Contracting for NHS Lincolnshire said: “All affected patients are being made aware of the planned closure of Swallowbeck Surgery.

“We are working closely with the other practices in the area to ensure that these patients can register with their choice of alternative surgery.

“A dedicated phone number has been set up for patients wishing to discuss their options or request a registration pack. The number is 01522 782203 open Monday to Friday.”

She added: “We are committed to helping local people find an alternative GP practice and wish Drs Mark and Alison Fallon a healthy and happy retirement.”
