Santa’s reindeer return to Lincoln twice

Hot hoofing to Lincoln: The city centre will see some very special visitors over the Christmas period.

Reindeer will be visiting Lincoln city centre again this year in the run up to Christmas, accompanied by Santa and his sleigh.

On November 17, two reindeer from Rand Farm Park will visit Lincoln and take up residence in the Cornhill with Santa — organised by The Rotary Club of Lincoln.

However, on December 13, six more reindeer from The Cairngorms will travel through Lincoln, starting at Newport Arch at 6pm.

The deer will then head along the Bailgate and down Steep Hill onto the High Street, finishing at the Cornhill at 7pm.

One person chosen by BBC Radio Lincolnshire will also get to travel in a sleigh down to the Cornhill.

Late night shopping will also continue, allowing people to shop for gifts after meeting the reindeer visitors.

Lincoln BIG Events and Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “We’re really thrilled to be having two visiting groups of reindeer. We know they will add a very special flavour to Christmas-time in Lincoln.

“Of course, when the Cairngorms’ visitors arrive the festivities will be in full swing and we hope as many people as possible will make the most of the attractions such as the Lincoln BIG Ice Rink (which will be a feature of City Square from December 1 to 30) and the Swedish Santa’s Grotto in St Mark’s Square, which will be open from December 6 to December 23, during shopping hours.”
