Lincoln and Lincolnshire gritting routes maps
Lincolnshire County Council released the 2012-2013 gritting routes for Lincoln and Lincolnshire.
The authority precautionary salts a priority network of 43 routes.
The council also uses a fleet of 43 dedicated vehicles to spread salt at a rate of between 10-20 grammes per square metre when road frosts are forecast.
Highway engineers monitor 24/7 ten roadside weather stations equipped with both atmospheric and road sensors.
The information from these sensors is used by the Met Office to prepare daily weather forecasts which enable highway engineers to predict when action is needed to salt the roads.
