Lincoln construction firm wins employer of the year award

Encouraging development: A Lincoln-based construction company has been named as the Rolls Royce Large Employer of the Year.

A Lincoln-based construction company has been named as the Rolls Royce Large Employer of the Year in the National Training Awards this week.

The Gelder Group, which has its headquarters based in Lincoln and offices based across the Midlands and Yorkshire, was selected as the national winner in the Large Business category due to its commitment a culture in which all of its 300 plus employees can continuously develop and improve their skills.

The National Training Awards, run by the National Apprenticeship Service in conjunction with Investors in People, recognise organisations which have delivered outstanding training programmes.

On accepting the award, Steve Gelder, Managing Director, Gelder Group, said: “Training is a long term investment and it is fantastic to be recognised for it among such prestigious company.”

Gelder Group’s Michael Johnson, who leads the organisation’s training division, was also recognised at the Awards, receiving this year’s Linda Ammon Award which is presented to an inspirational individual who has made an impact on their organisation through training.

David Way, Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “The Gelder Group’s outstanding commitment to delivering top quality training makes them worthy winners of these awards.

“I congratulate the company on the huge contribution they have made and are continuing to make towards improving employment and training prospects for people in the area.
