TV weatherman to switch on Lincoln Christmas lights

Christmas is almost here: Popular ITV weatherman Jon Mitchell will help switch on the Lincoln’s Christmas lights on November 22.

Popular ITV weatherman Jon Mitchell will help switch on the Lincoln’s Christmas lights on Thursday, November 22.

The City of Lincoln Council announced the long serving front man for regional TV weather bulletins has been invited to perform the honours.

Steve Barclay as ‘The Dame’ from this year’s Theatre Royal pantomime Dick Whittington will also accompany the Civic Party headed by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Karen Lee.

The Civic Party will process from the Guildhall at 6.50pm making their way to the war memorial in the High Street.

Carols will be played by the Salvation Army Band to accompany the ceremony with entertainment provided beforehand by St Hugh’s School choir and John Allison.

Compere for the evening will be Lincs FM’s Rob Hammond who will introduce the Mayor’s Chaplain Father John Kyne before Councillor Lee delivers her Christmas message.

After some words from Jon Mitchell, the Mayor will officially switch on this year’s lights at around 7pm.

More carols from the Salvation Army Band will then be played as the Civic Party makes its way back to the Guildhall.
