Additional stops for Lincoln trains

Extra services: East Midlands Trains has made some changes to trains in Lincolnshire, adding more stops and making some services quicker.

A number of services leaving Lincoln operated by East Midlands Trains will be faster.

The changes to the service is part of an annual overhaul by EMT, which looks at ways to improve residents’ journeys.

As part of the new timetable, journeys between Lincoln and London on Sundays will be 20 minutes faster.

This was achieved by talking with Network Rail to alter engineering works to the lines over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the weekday 9.57am, 3.28pm and the 4.45pm train between Newark Northgate and Grimsby will get an additional stop at Hykeham due to the Teal Park development.

The Lincoln to Newark Northgate service at 6.18pm will now also stop at Hykeham.

On weekends and Saturdays, the 11.42am between Lincoln and Leicester will call at Carlton, though the 12.30pm service will no longer call at this stop, instead stopping at Burton Joyce.

David Horne, Managing Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We invest a lot of time and resource into making sure our timetable offers the best possible service for our passengers.

“Every year, we review the timetable and listen to feedback from passengers, staff and stakeholders on how we can make further improvements.

“This year, we’re pleased to be completing the next phase of our work to provide extra capacity on the busy Nottingham to Liverpool route and provide some additional services on our local routes.”
