Double date in Lincoln for Princess Anne in education royal visits

Double appointment: Princess Anne will visit both Lincoln College and Bishop Grosseteste University for official openings of their new facilities in February.

Lincoln will be graced by royalty twice next month, as Princess Anne will come to the city to officially open two new educational facilities on February 15.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will make a stop at Bishop Grosseteste University, which recently gained university status from the Privy Council.

She will officially open the Cornerstone Building, where the university’s library and student support and advice teams are now based.

The building was part of a £2.5 million refurbishment, which was finished in September 2012.

She will meet with staff and students at BGU and visit BG Futures, the university’s business incubation centre, plus the university’s café, Curiositea.

As previously reported, Princess Anne will also officially open Lincoln College’s Deans Sport and Leisure building.

At Lincoln College she will tour the spa, hair and beauty salons, sports injury clinic, gym, dance studio, and sports performance studio.

HRH is no stranger to Lincoln — last year, she officially opened Lincoln’s School of Engineering, while in late 2011 she visited Lincoln Cathedral for the Townswomen’s Guild’s National carol service.
