Former Lincoln car showroom will be a DW gym and pool

New fitness centre: A gym chain will move into an old car dealership unit in the south of the city later in the year.

A former car showroom off Tritton Road in Lincoln will open in March as a DW Sports Fitness gym.

As previously reported, the old VW showroom will be transformed into a gym and swimming pool, with other indoor facilities, creating up to 30 new jobs.

It will be open between 6.30am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 8pm at weekends.

The refurbishment of the unit, opposite The Showroom, is costing around £3 million, and is the second unit to be taken by a DW Sports Fitness facility in Lincolnshire.

The other DW gym is located in Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough, which is also set to receive a £650,000 refit.

Memberships start at £28 per month for off-peak use of the gym and pool, and £38 anytime attendance. There are also offers for the elderly (£22) and students (£20-£30).

However, there will be special offers for the first 200 people to sign up for membership to the gym.

The gyms also feature club stores, to buy any basic kit you may need for your training.

DW gyms, owned by Dave Whelan, came to be after he bought the 52 JJB fitness clubs in 2009. The Lincoln branch 68th in the chain to open.
